It is now pretty much and undisputed fact that CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions are contributing to the climate change that results in global warming.
And while it is next to impossible to operate a company that can manage every aspect of their CO2 emissions generated, we do try where and when we can, including the purchase of carbon offset credits.
What are carbon offset credits?
Carbon offsets are simple. We are all responsible for carbon dioxide emissions, whether it’s by driving, heating and cooling our homes, watching TV, or something else. Carbon offsets represent the act of reducing an equal amount of carbon somewhere else to counterbalance the carbon emissions from your energy-using activities (called your “carbon footprint").
Carbon offsets enable anyone to reduce their climate footprint by supporting projects that reduce carbon dioxide emissions to balance out one’s own carbon footprint. If you choose to offset your entire carbon footprint, that is called being carbon neutral.
What is ECOmmitted doing to address this?
We at ECOmmitted are trying to do our part to reduce our own carbon footprint and ulitimately lessen the impact this business has on the environment. Our carbon footprint is everywhere; from the furnace used to heat the building, the regular trips to the post office and the diesel fuel consumed by the FedEx truck that might deliver your package, our CO2 footprint is omnipresent.
We address our own carbon footprint through the purchase of Carbon Offset credits, In fact, ECOmmitted purchase enough credits that we actually operate the company in a carbon negative manner. That means that not only do we cover the CO2 emissions of day-to-day operations of this business, we also ensure that every item you purchase to support this fundraising group is shipped to you carbon free.
So what is Carbon Negative?
After we have accounted for all the aspects of our carbon footprint, we are still left with carbon credits to spare. The remainder of those offset credits are used to support other carbon-reducing projects such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects around the country.
Our carbon offset credits are purchased from CarbonFund.org. As a business partner with CarbonFund.org we encourage you to visit them to determine your own carbon footprint and purchase carbon offset credits to minimize your own carbon footprint.
